You Were Made For Friendship with Mari Carnes & Amanda Kaeb
Have you ever wondered what a Christian friendship should look like? Mari & Amanda have both experienced times of thriving friendship and times of loneliness. They have had the privilege of being friends with each other for the last 8 years and they’ve learned a few things along the way. One thing they are sure of is that loneliness hurts and isolation isn’t healthy. God designed us for community. You were made for friendship. In this session we will look at what the Bible has to say about being a good friend and how the God of the universe sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to befriend a sinner like us. Mari Carnes is married to her husband Austin and together they have 3 children. She’s had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom as well as working part-time for the local library as a StoryTime teacher. Mari enjoys a good cup of coffee, admiring unique plants, and working out. Amanda Kaeb is married to Duane and has 4 crazy kids. She spends her days homeschooling her kiddos and keeping up with the chaos. She loves sushi, board games, and cooking
How to Read the Bible for All It's Worth with Emily Oestmann
In the beginning, the thought of reading such a massive piece of literature may seem daunting. However, the choice to face your fear (or perhaps your anti-motivation) and pick up the Bible is going to be one of the best decisions of your life. As Christians, opting out of Bible reading cannot be an option. “Man cannot live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) But, how do we live on ‘every word that comes from the mouth of God’? And what does that even mean? What if I read something and don’t understand? Don’t worry! You have the literal Creator of the Universe on your side. Join Emily as she walks through strategies you can use to help spend productive time reading your Bible, and getting to know God on a deeper level. Emily Oestmann is a senior at Peru State College, studying graphic design and marketing. She’s an RA and enjoys attending Christian Challenge on Wednesday nights. Emily’s favorite activity during the week is meeting her sister at Gospel Coffee in Brownville on Friday mornings.
The Heart of Apologetics with Katie Musil
Everyone has questions about Christianity: How can I know the Bible is true? Why is there suffering and evil in the world? Does God really care about our sexuality? In this workshop we will explore these culturally-divisive topics and discuss practical and loving ways to defend our faith to a lost and hurting world. Katie Musil lives in Falls City, Nebraska with her husband, Charles, their toddler, CJ, and their dog, Spurgeon. She enjoys teaching God's Word, watching documentaries, and will never turn down a Diet Dr. Pepper. Katie will be joined by Grace Morris, a sophomore at Falls City High School, who will share with us how she defends her faith to unbelieving friends at school.
Discover Your Real Identity with Ashton Kastendick
Ashton Kastendick grew up in Sabetha, KS and graduated from K-State with a bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Science. She is married to Andrew and they live in Falls City, Nebraska where she works at the Elementary School there. She enjoys embroidering, sushi, listening to Justin Bieber, and reading. Ashton is honored to lead a workshop about identity and where to find our identity in a world that seems to always be changing. The Bible answers the questions a lot of us seem to be asking, “Who am I? What is my purpose? Why was I created?” Ashton is excited to dive into what the Bible has to say about where to find identity and how to faithfully live that out.
